Dream Entry*
October 15, 2005
Everything is green, not just the grass. The sky is green. The birds flying overhead are green. There’s a green kid in a green shirt flying a green kite. His green little sister is eating a green ice cream cone.
I spot Morzant. He’s green, too, as usual. He looks over his shoulder as he runs into a field of green beans.
A green Bigfoot passes by me and shouts for me to join him.
“Hurry! We’ll follow him to his pot of gold!”
“I didn’t know Morzant had a pot of gold,” I say, catching up and running beside Bigfoot.
“All leprechauns do,” Bigfoot says.
We chase Morzant through the field of green beans, across a green creak, and over a hill covered with four-leaf clover.
“We’re in luck now,” Bigfoot says. “He’s got nowhere to go.”
Morzant has stopped running. He’s blocked by a rainbow. It’s green, but also red, orange, yellow, and indigo.
“Where’s the violet?” I ask.
“I’m here!” says a green beagle puppy from the top of the rainbow.
She slides down the rainbow and into an enormous pot at its base. She comes out of the pot carrying books in her mouth. Then all my green friends, and two other green beagle puppies, slide down the rainbow into the pot. They all come out with books.
“My gold!” Morzant cries.
“Too bad,” Bigfoot says as he reaches into the pot for some books.
Morzant turns to me.
“No gold for you,” he says. “You’re not green.”
That’s when he pinches me and I wake up.
These are the books my green friends took from the pot:

* The dream entries from Briar’s journal contain premonitions of books that will be published in the future. Briar’s dream self foresees the books’ summaries and knows which will likely appeal to each of her friends. Briar always wakes up before she can see whether her friends will enjoy the books.
