Briar’s Journal (September 24 to October 4, 2013)

Dream Entry*
March 4, 2004

My friends, three puppies, and a duck are playing spoons in Morzant’s lab when there’s a knock on the door. Even though the door is a giant piece of white bread, the knocking sounds like metal hitting metal. Nobody else seems to hear it, so I get up to see who’s there.

It’s a travelling librarian. She’s balancing a four-foot stack of books on her left pinky finger. She tells me the library has started a new, bread-door-to-bread-door service. Everybody rushes from the lab to collect the books the travelling librarian has brought for them.

“When you’re finished, send them back in the self-propelled hot air balloon,” she says pointing to a red balloon staked in the field next to Morzan’t ship.

Everybody takes their books to the lab to read.

* The dream entries from Briar’s journal contain premonitions of books that will be published in the future. Briar’s dream self foresees the books’ summaries and knows which will likely appeal to each of her friends. Briar always wakes up before she can see whether her friends will enjoy the books.
